East Century Avenue was reconstructed in 2007-2008 from 19th Street to
Hamilton Street. Environmental clearance for East Century Avenue project was
obtained under the June 2005, Finding of No Significant Impact & March 2005
Environmental Assessment. The focus of this project and the environmental
document will be on the improvements to Centennial Road. The project consists of
evaluating improvement alternatives to address roadway deficiencies, safety, and
capacity issues. This project is expected to be constructed during the 2011
construction season.
The proposed improvements along East Century Avenue include reconstructing the
roadway from Hamilton Street to Yorktown Drive which consists of a 5-lane concrete
roadway with lighting, shared-use path, storm sewer, and frontage road
improvements. Options are being considered for the frontage road improvements
along East Century Avenue along with access management options at the intersection of
Yorktown Drive.
The proposed improvements along Centennial Road include reconstructing the roadway
from Trenton Drive to Jericho Road which consists of a 5-lane concrete section with
permanent traffic signals at the intersections of Trenton Drive/Centennial Road and
East Century Avenue/Centennial Road. Sidewalks, shared-use path, storm sewer, and
lighting are also included in the proposed improvements. Options are being considered
for additional right turns lanes along Centennial Road as well as noise abatement walls.
